JOB POST: Tate Modern – London

Job Title: Curator, International Art
Status: Permanent
Hours Per Week: Full-time
Employed By Tate
Location Tate Modern
Band: Senior Advisory
Salary: £27,150 per annum – £32,250 per annum

Job Description: The aim of Tate is to promote public understanding and enjoyment of British modern and contemporary art. Tate Modern is a place of exchange, where modern visual culture energises the nation. Attracting over 5 million visitors in its first year, the gallery now plays an integral role in regional and international cultural life. Regularly acquiring new work, Tate Modern is now enhancing its Collection of African art.
It will be up to you to research and develop an exciting curatorial programme with a focus on African art. Reporting to the Head of Collections (International Art) you’ll put forward a strategy for acquisitions and displays of African art at Tate. It’s a developing area for Tate, but with your extensive knowledge of African art you’ll advise and inform across the board. Ultimately, your ideas will help grow the national Collection in a new geographical area.

You’ll have a relevant degree and post-graduate qualification in Art History or related field. With extensive gallery experience, you’ll have held a curatorial role before – so, you’ll know all about acquiring and displays. You’ll be a creative thinker, organised in your approach and able to present and communicate to a high standard.
