Throw Back Sunday’s 0050

Welcome to another Sunday. Now we are not sure what the weather is like in your part of town, it’s cloudy and warm in London. With the mazy weather in mind you just want to wrap up, stay in bed or lounge in front of the TV. Guess we can say this is a girlie track as it’s chosen by Maria in the office 🙂  We love the Pointer Sisters they were simply fun and although we could have chosen a funk jazz cut from the 70’s instead we went with a rather poppy ballad  from the eighties.

As with all our Sunday posts we hope you enjoy them, pass it on and find more music from them.

The Pointer Sisters are a famous R&B group. The group’s members originally included Ruth, Anita, Bonnie and June Pointer. The group found its greatest success as a trio after their sister Bonnie left to pursue a solo career. The group’s hits include “Automatic,” “Jump (For My Love),” “I’m So Excited,” and “Neutron Dance“, which was covered by The Extremes on The Jim Henson Hour.

The Pointer Sisters recorded the vocal tracks for the popular “Pinball Number Count” cartoon on Sesame Street.

They performed the song “Yes, We Can Can” onSesame Street (EKA: Episode 0793); the song appeared on the 1979 album The Stars Come Out on Sesame Street. They also sang “Hush, Little Baby” (YouTube) and “Swingin’ Alphabet” on Sesame Street.

The Oinker Sisters, a trio of singing Sesame Street pigs, are named in honor of the group. (Maria)
